Using Clips

Task
Method(s)
Show/hide the Clipbook
Press F4.
Insert a clip
Do any of the following:
  • Double-click the name in the Clipbook pane.

  • Drag-and-drop the clip from the Clipbook to the document window.

  • Type the name and press F2.

  • Position the cursor, press Esc, and scroll through the dropdown list that appears at the insertion point.

  • Turn on Auto-replace (Tools menu) and type the name.
Create a new clip
  1. Right-click the clip below which you want to insert the header.

  2. Select Add New Clip.

  3. In the Clip Name dialog box, type the clip name, then click OK.

  4. In the Clip Editor, type or paste the desired clip text.

  5. Right-click in the Clipbook and select Save Now from the popup menu.
(Clip feature) Surround selected text with an HTML tag, or position cursor to type text within a tag Type ^& at the desired insertion point in the clip text.
(Clip feature) Display a dialog box to insert custom text in a clip Type ^?[label] at the desired location in the clip text.
Copy a clip from one Clipbook to another
  1. Right-click on the clip and select Copy to Clipboard from the popup menu.

  2. Display the new Clipbook.

  3. Right-click where you want to insert the new clip and select Add from Clipboard from the popup menu.
Create a header for organizing clips
  1. Right-click the clip below which you want to insert the header.

  2. Select Add New Clip.

  3. In the Clip Name dialog box, type the header name beginning with a semicolon, then click OK.

Create a new Clipbook Do one of the following:
  • Copy the .CLB file (\Libraries subdirectory) for an existing Clipbook, rename, the copy, and add/delete/rearrange the clips as needed.

  • Use Tools > Clipbook > New Library, save the new Clipbook, and create or copy clips as needed.
