Halifax NOVASCOTIAN Jan. 9, 1860

DIED - From schooner 'WENTWORTH', [under Capt.] Hunter, New York lost a man [J. Sweet, of Windsor] on 31st ult., washed from jig-boom.


Halifax NOVASCOTIAN Jan. 16, 1860

DIED - On arrival at New York, brig. 'BLANCHE', of Maitland, N.S., [it was reported that on] Dec.29th., lat. 26 14, long. 74 14, John Graham Smith,  of Maitland, died of fever. [Shipping News column]

DIED - Boston, May 15 - on arrival of schooner 'OSWEGO', [Capt.] Card, Havana - on the 29th ult., in a gale - lost overboard - E. Fithcomb, of Windsor, N.S., Margaret Dill, ______ Dill, Windsor. [from Shipping News column]


Halifax NOVASCOTIAN Dec.24, 1860

DIED - At Havana, Cuba, 15th Nov., of the typhus fever, Daniel, mate of the barque 'CRIMEA', aged 26 years, third son of Daniel Cochran, senior of Newport, N.S.

DIED - At New York, Thursday, Nov. 6th., Capt. John Crocket, native of N.S., in the 48th year of his age.

DIED - On the 11th jan., at Turk's Island, on board the brig't. 'GEM', Robert John Parker, in the 22nd year of his age.

DIED - Of dynestry, at Rangoon, on board barque 'DUART CASTLE', Genete, only son of Capt. Clark, in the 6th year of his age.


Halifax BRITISH COLONIST Sept.15, 1864

DIED - On the 15th ult., on board the brig. 'BOUNDING BELLOW', on her passage from Demerara to St. Vincent, Adam, son of James and Jane Johnson, in the 19th year of his age.


Halifax NOVASCOTIAN Aug.20, 1866

DIED - A man named William Grant, third mate of the American ship 'S. CARLING', was stabbed on board that vessel in the harbor at St. John, N.B., on Monday, and almost immediately died from the effects of the wound inflicted. [ in another column (copied in part) - a verdict of manslaughter was returned against a seaman, William Smith, of the same vessel.

DIED - The schooner 'MADERIA', at New York, 3rd inst., from Para, reports - David Dimock, of Rawdon, N.S., jumped overboard and was drowned.


Halifax CITIZEN Aug. 1, 1868

DIED - On the passage from England, July 26th, Maud, infant
daughter of Sanford Fleming.

DIED - On the 18th ult., at Port Greville, Cumb. Co., after a short illness, of inflamation of the lungs, Capt. William H. Allen, aged 60 years, formerly of Hantsport.

DIED - At New York, on Tuesday, Dec.21st, on board brig. 'CURACOA', Genete F., son of Capt. Geo. B. and Amanda Lockhart, of Windsor, N.S., aged 9 months and 16 days.
