HIMALAYA Dec. 12, 1872 A cable telegram says the troop-ship HIMALAYA is still at Portsmouth repairing, and will not leave for Halifax before the 30th inst. STEAMERS The CARLOTTA left early yesterday morning, and the CHASE in the evening, both for Portland. The RINGDOVE (formerly the EXCALIBAR) is expected to arrive here about the 16th inst., and will proceed to Boston. The M.A. STARR left St. John, N.B., on Monday evening for Halifax, but in consequence of stormy weather returned to St. John on Tuesday morning.

Dec.17, 1872 STEAMERS The CARLOTTA with passengers and general cargo, and the SCANDINAVIAN, which is to take this week's mail to England, arrived yesterday morning from Portland. The SCANDINAVIAN will leave at noon today for Queenstown and Liverpool, and the CARLOTTA will leave at 4 p.m. for Portland. The M.A.STARR will leave this evening for Yarmouth and intermediate ports. She will not proceed to St. John this trip. The MANS ? (Dutch) from Rotterdam for New York, which arrived here on Sunday, coaled yesterday, and resumed her voyage. Dec.21, 1872 FOR NEWFOUNDLAND: The Steamer EAGLE from St. John's, NF., via Sydney, arrived last evening. We observe that the merchants of St. John's have petitioned the Governor to put a wooden steamer on the route to Halifax, forming, in connection with the Allan Steamers, a fortnightly service.

Dec. 23, 1872 STEAMERS - The HIBERNIAN from Liverpool, G.B., 3rd inst., Queenstown, 4th., and St. John's, NF., 18th., arrived on Saturday morning. She proceeded the same night for Baltimore. The SOUTHERN left on Saturday for New York. The CHASE for Portland and the DIONE for Sydney, also went out on Saturday. ALPHA Bermuda to Halifax Dec.27, 1872 GLENDOWYN W., and WALKER E. Dec.30, 1872 Arrival of the AUSTRIAN, the Allan mail steamer, from Liverpool, G.B., 17th inst., via Queenstown, 18th, arrived here at 9 o'clock last night, making a good passage of 11 days from the last port. She had strong Westelty winds and cold weather the entire passage. The Steamer M.A. STARR, bound to Halifax, is frozen solid. The weather is now so cold that men cannot work on the ice.
