Active (now lying at Commercial Wharf) 200 tons burthen, coppered and copper fastened will sail for Australia on or about the 10th of October. Those who wish to embrace the present opportunity for securing a passage for the land of Gold will please make immediate application, that provision may be made to ensure their comfort and convenience. Passage 30 pounds Currency. The provisions are all of the best quality having been selected in New York by the owner, whose personal superintendence during the voyage will be an ample guarantee to those who know him that their wants will be well attended to. A. RECORDER, Halifax Oct.18, 1856, plate 3,c2 Brig. Active Australian Emigration Quite a little excitement was observable about Commercial Wharf, on Thursday afternoon, when the Brig. Active, Capt. Irvine was getting under way for Australia and the passengers whom she was to carry out were taking leave of their friends. The Active has been newly fitted up, put in excellent order, and provisioned for the voyage by her owner, Mr. D. R. Gabriel, who also goes out in her to revisit the land of gold. She carries out some 26, or 28 passengers to the Antipodes.
