George Moodie
Capt. .George Moodie was the first captain of the famous tea clipper "Cutty Sark". Later, he worked for the Stateline and sailed the Atlantic Ocean for 11 years.
In 1891 he retired from the sea and eight years later settled in the Wemyss, Fife, Scotland area where he was born. He spent about ten years in Methil, Fife, Scotland and then retired to MacDuff House in Auchtermuchty, Fife and died at the age of 95.
His three sons also had a love for the sea. One son, James, worked for Pennsylvania Railway Line Steamers, and was transferred to New York. Another son, George worked for the Methil Docks in the Fife area. and his third son (my grandfather) Alexander was a ship master and engineer and sailed to many world ports during his career. He also had four daughters. He had eleven grandchildren. How many descendants there are now I don't know, having just started my family search. The son, James who died in a accident in New York is the one I am looking for.
