Transcriber's Notes:
An asterisk (*) indicates an error on the part of the original recorder
not the transcriber and a note about it from the transcriber.
A question mark (?) indicates a letter that could not be read with
certainty. The penmanship in this log was classic in style and
exceptionally good; the contrast was outstanding.
There were no births or deaths on this passage; therefore, the
birth/death column has been eliminated.
Passenger numbers have been added to aid with referencing.
7, 12 Phillip Yeoman (psgr #7) is listed as a female. Five lines later the entry for
Philipa Yeoman (psgr #12) is followed "2d," meaning second. Probably this name
should be spelled Philipa, although it's possible this Phillip is a
male and the 2d notation added below it is in error. There is a small
blotch on the paper at the end of the letter "p" on this line and
covering the ending upswing. However, I do not see enough room for
an "a" there.
79-80 Owen, Thos. and Richard were written with a "do" or ditto for surname.
106 Johanna Regan ?? Both numbers in this second Johanna's age were written
over. The first number was once clearly written as a "2" but seems to
be written over a "1." The second number also seems to have been written
twice: perhaps once as a zero and also as a "6."
110-112 John Sawton: This surname is written perfectly. However, the next entry
(Annorah ?awton) seems to have first been written Sawton and then the
"S" was written over heavily with the letter "L." And the following
name (Kitty Lawton) is written with the surname perfectly formed.
141 Margaret M?ui?s: I believe this is Mquins but the second character could
be a "g." I do not see a lowercase "c" after the "M" that begins the name.
158 T?r?s Cafferday: His given name appears to have five characters. The
second character looks like a "u," while the fourth character looks like
an "n."
