Correspondence 4/13/00 Dale
My grandfather, Christian Peter Jorgensen made the trip from Denmark to the
"New World" two times. The trip on the SS Sueva in April 1879 was his first
trip. Family tradition says he got to Tacoma, Washington where he helped
build the water front. About 20 years later, he returned to Denmark to
marry. After he married, he brought his bride with him back to the United
States. They traveled across the United States back to Washington State
where my grandfather homesteaded an 80 acre farm near the small town of
Grandview, Yakima county, Washington state. There he raised a family of 8
children (two girls and six boys).
