Correspondence received July, 2005, on Andrias Paulesen, Captain
My Grandfather Whalley's uncle was Andria Paulesen I'm sure who was the captain of this vessel. Andrias was the son of Paul Ammundsen Paulesen and Elizabeth Ericksen both Norwegian and Andrias married Jane Whalley on 23/5/1873 in Glasgow. Then he was living on board a Steamship Byuan (I can't decipher the name correct but it looks like this on his Marriage Cert.)
Some of his children were born in Glasgow and later some in Gibraltar where his brother in law (my Great Grandfather) also lived. Later, more children were born in Glasgow. One of his children, Beatrice Costerton Paulesen, born in Glasgow, married and went to live in New York after her father Andrias died in 1901. I would be very interested if anyone could give me any more information on this ship or others on it or it's purpose and where this record came from. Many thanks. Debbie Allan (Glasgow)
