Transcriber's Notes:
* Under the Years column, under the month section, dittos were used on all passengers
but 3 (Francis Rhodes, Elizabeth Fo?s, and Thomas Beer) which were filled in with a 6.
* There was one death during the voyage, but I have eliminated the column for
'Died on the Voyage': Owen Jones "died on Passage". There were no births noted.
* The use of an * indicates an omission or error made by the original recorder.
(Listed below in the order in which it appears on the manifest.)
* The month is written as Feby, I assume it means February.
*  Passengers is written with 3 s's.
* Passenger #31: Owen Jones Occupation was written as Taylor, and I believe it to mean
   tailor.
* The use of a ? indicates a word or letters that could not be read, due to quality of
   original document.
* Passenger #10: The surname B??k could be Burk.

Correspondence: 18 May 2001 passeners 16-19, 36 & 37 Foss
My ancestors aboard this ship are the Foss family, Robert and Lydia, their
children John, Ellen, Elizabeth and Sarah. They settled in Mansfield,CT. I
have been doing an extensive search on this family.

There were two other children born in CT, Robert and Samuel Simms.

I am the daughter of Phyllis Brewer Sutthill who was Howland Brewer's older
sister. Samuel S. Foss( b.1843) was my great grandfather. I have the family
Bible that belonged to Rebecca Brewster and Samuel S. Foss. I have done a
lot of research on the Foss family and I think most of what you have is correct.

Samuel Simms Foss went to Bay City,MI to work as a lumberman with his
younger brother Edward Benjamin Foss.(Note: the Benjamin in the 1860 RI
Census living with mother Sarah) I have information on that family. Also
have information on Frank Halsey Foss, brother of Ruth Foss Brewer, my
grandmother. The youngest son of Frank Foss, Hetrick, is still alive and
living in Sarasota, FL.

Correspondence February 1, 2008 passengers 16-19, 36 & 37 Foss Good Day, Am seeking further information on Robert Foss who married Lydia Simms in 1810, at St Alkmunds in Derby. He was said to have been "of this parish" and Lydia was listed as being from Aston on Trent. They were both around 24 at the time of their marriage. I know the SIMMS/SIMS/SYMS/SYMMES/etc name is prevalent in the area, but notices not QUITE to many with the FOSS surname. Was wondering if anyone else is researching this family? Robert and Lydia, along with son, John (b. @1812/13) and Ellen (can't recall birth year, but probably around 1815, came to the US in 1820, settling in Massachusetts, where they had more children, then removing to Rhode Island, and eventually, Connecticut. Two of Robert's sons, both born in Massachusetts in 1821, went into the newspaper busines. Samuel Simms Foss, twin of German W. Foss, was the owner and editor (for a time) of the Woonsocket Patriot, and was one of the many outspoken Anti-Slavery journalists of that time in New England. I'm working with a non-profit organization named after Samuel, trying to piece together the origins of his FOSS line. I have plenty of information to share (at least on this "side of the pond"), but have precious little information about the family origins in the UK. The only "suspect" Lydia Simms in LDS IGI was christened in Duffield (which though both are NEAR Derby, they are on opposite sides. However, from 1788 when she was likely christened, to 1810, when she married Robert, there's always the possibility that her family moved from Duffield to Aston on Trent. IF she was the same Lydia christened in 1788 at Duffield, she would have been daughter of Samuel Simms and Silence Brown (by the only accounts I have happened upon). Again, ANYONE with any information on this family, please feel free to respond to this post, or directly to me via e-mail.
