Correspondence: 2/00 Jenners
The following information was sent by Sue Beach:
Martin JENNERS is found listed variously as "Henry Martin," "Martin
Holbrook," and H. M. Jenners. The family seems to have always referred to
him as "Martin." He was born 25 April 1797 in Washington City (now
Washington, D.C.), the first child of Abiel JENNERS and his wife, Deborah
YOUNG. The family moved to Loudoun Co., VA ca 1802. There is considerable
evidence that Martin was a merchant or trader and that he traveled
extensively. In 1826 he traveled between Baltimore, MD and Cuba several
times. By 1828, he was in Lafayette, Indiana. After the death of Abiel
Jenners, Deborah (YOUNG) JENNERS moved with all her children to Lafayette,
Indiana, where Martin had already settled. However, Martin moved on ca
1830 or so and our last records of him are from St. Louis, MO in 1831. In
a letter from one of his sisters to another sister in 1844 he is mentioned
as deceased.
You may contact Sue Beach regarding the Jenners family.
