SS Oder
I, Chr. Leist, Master of the S.S. Oder, do solemnly, sincerely and truly affirm that the following List or Manifest, subcribed* by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collection District of Newyork*, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said S.S. Oder, at Bremen and Southampton from which por* said S.S. Oder has now arrived; and that on said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant an* that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who died. Rockford, Floyd county, Iowa where they are listed in the 1880 census.
He marries Anna Hershberg and later with their two children, Nellie and
Nathan, move to Minneapolis and then on to Portland, Oregon where he and
the remainder of his family die. Descendants are still living there.

This family does appear to be my Great Uncle Peter Seidl, born about 1849/1850 in Bohemia. His wife was Barbara, born about 1850 in Bohemia. I do not have a son Peter, but he could have died in NY. Usually there is a son named after the father. This family did not name another son Peter. I do have a son Joseph, the right age, but the 1884 census taken in Menominee, MI states he was born in NY. He was only 9 months old, when they arrived in NY, so could have told the census taker he was born in NY instead of Bohemia.

and having a unmarked grave.
