From Liverpool to New York, January 20, 1879

DISTRICT OF NEW YORK – PORT OF NEW YORK
I, C.L. Rigby, master of the Nevada do solemnly, sincerely, and truly affirm that the following List or Manifest, subscribed by me, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs of the Collections District of New York, is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken on board of the said Nevada at Liverpool from which Port said Nevada has now arrived; and that on the said list is truly designated the age, the sex, and the occupation of each of the said passengers, the part of the vessel occupied by each during the passage, the country to which each belongs, and also the country of which it is intended by each to become an inhabitant; and that said List or Manifest truly sets forth the number of said passengers who have died on said voyage, and the names and ages of those who have died. Transcribers Notes:    
Name of ship looks like NEVADA but poor handwriting looks like NEVADD in    
one of three places.    
Ship's Master's name is CHAS (short for CHARLES), L. RIGBY.    
* Passenger # 2 contraction for Edward and "Mahonty" could be "Mahoney".    
    
Line from copying process extends through name. Also "Labr" is    
contraction    
for "Laborer".    
* Passenger # 7, looks like MEALY, could also be MEATY.    
* Passenger # 8, JAS, short for JAMES. The JA has an upswing symbol and    
a small "s" on the end. Name could also be HUMPHREY.    
* Passenger # 9, THOS, short for THOMAS, Last name looks like BATES but    
could also be BALIS.    
* Passenger #10, ROBT short for ROBERT.    
* Passenger #11, Last name looks like LEWIS but could also be LERVIS due    
to handwriting.    
* Passenger #12, Letters mixed with next line down, not clear. First    
letter on last name not clear.    
* Passenger #15, THOS short for THOMAS.    
* Passenger #17, WM short for WILLIAM, last name looks like STORM but    
could also be STORN.    
* Passenger #19, JAS short for JAMES, last name looks like GARDEN but    
could also be GARDER.    
* Passenger #21, JAS short for JAMES, MERCHT is short for MERCHANT.    
* Passenger #23, ABM short for ABRAHAM, line through name, possibly from    
copier machine.    
* Passenger #24, LEOND short for LEONARD.    
* Passenger #25, Letter on area of ship occupied looks like a T, J or L.    
Is possibly an S for SALOON.    
* Passenger #26, First name not discernable.    
* Passenger #27, First name initial not readable.    
* Passenger #29, ED short for EDWARD.    
* Passenger #30, Last name looks like BEESLEY but could also be BUSLEY,    
or BEESLEIF due to dot over the word.    
The ship master's signature is not as legible as it is at top of page.
