MONDAY, JANUARY 28, 1861. The "Lady Egidia", 1236 tons, Captain Curry, from Greenock, with immigrants and general cargo, was towed up to Port Chalmers by the "Geelong", and anchored at 5 a.m.

Correspondence 05/12/02 passenger Murdock
John Murdock, wife , 5 sons , 3 daughters 

John MURDOCH (1821-1893), his wife Martha (nee FISHER, 1823-1902), and 
their children all hailed from Wigtownshire Scotland. The children listed 
were Alexander (1843-1926); Catherine (1845-1929); Thomas (1848-?); 
John (1850-1921); Jane Neilson (1952-1915); Martha (1855-1925); 
Robert (1857-1930); and James Robert (1860-1938). John and Martha 
had a further two male children after settling in Otago. While the 
rest of the family settled in Otago, James Robert moved to Kumara, 
Westland, and married Minnie Jane Healey, daughter of Frederick Joseph 
Michael Healey and Elizabeth nee Sturton. They had 9 children.

Correspondence 03/23/2003 passengers Cowan
My Greatgrandmother Janet Cowan was born on the Lady Egidia bound for 
New Zealand in 1861.  She grew up in Dunedin and married Michael Davis 
8th June 1877 in Dunedin.  They lived on the Otago Peninsular at 
Sandymount and had twelve children.  Janet Cowan Davis was still alive
