* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the original recorder, not
the transcriber, or is used to call your attention to additional information
in the transcriber's notes.
? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined due to the
condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.
Passenger numbers were added to ease referencing.
1 Mrs. Eliza Carrot: the country she belonged to may have been U.
States, but an ink blot covered it.
6-11 The Carrot children from Josephine through Domingo had only a wavy
line in space for "country belonging". It was not clear if this was
meant to mean "ditto" for Trinidad, as farther down the list, the
abbreviation "do" was used for ditto for the last 3 passengers.
11 Domingo Carrot: (colored) was written next to his name.
14 Ricketts: first initial was I or J; second initial was L or S.
Correspondence: 10/5/99
According to a researcher, Miss Isabel Carrot or Carrett, age 24, was
married 22 February 1855 in Dedham, Massachusetts to William Lewis Green Peirce.
She was from Trinidad, Cuba. Miss Carrett returned to Trinidad at least
twice. The name is spelled Carrett on her passport and other records.
