DISTRICT OF NEW YORK - PORT OF NEW YORK
I, C.L. Brandt Master of the german SS Herder, do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the following List or Manifest subscribed by me and now delivered by me to the Collector of Customs District of New York is a full and perfect list of all the passengers taken aboard the the said Steamer, Herder at Hamburg via Havre, from which port said Hamburg via Havre has now arrived and that on said list is truly designated the age, sex, and the occupation of each said passengers, the part of vessel occupied by each, the country to which each belongs and the country of which is intended by each to become an inhabitant.
Sworn to this 20 January, 1879.
List or Manifast of all passengers taken on board the german steamer Herder whereof C.L. Brandt is Master from Hamburg. Burden 2313 32/100 tons.
Destination of all passengers is the United States
Columns represent: Name, Age, Sex, and the occupation of each said passengers, the part of vessel occupied by each, the country to which each belongs and the country of which is intended by each to become an inhabitant. (per above sworn statement but no last column)

The manifest scribe numbered the passengers but restarted with #1 with change
in Space Occupied. To aid with referencing, the passengers have been renumbered
sequentially.
