PORT OF PHILDELPHIA
I, E. D. Hovey, do solemnly, sincerely and truly affr. that the Report or Manifest subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Philad. contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the passengers which were on board the Bark Hannah Thornton at the time of her sailing from the port of Belfast or which have been taken on board at any time since; that I am at present, and have been during the voyage, master of the said vessel. And I do likewise affr. that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest are, to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. Before me, this 11 day of June 1850, (signed) ?? Report or Manifest of all the Passengers taken on board the Hannah Thornton whereof E. D. Hovey is Master, from Belfast, burthen 407 tons and owned by John A. McG??? of New York and bound to Philadelphia.

Bona?: first name not possible to read, but could have been something like Tom or Corn. Letter in Bona? is probably s. 79 McGle?on: probably McGlenon. 82 ?????? Manson: could not determine the first name. May begin with C or E. 87, 89 John McCaughey: one of them was probably 25, the other probably 30. 90 Alex Lagh???: last name was very blurry. 93 Geo. McCormick: age was either 15 or 25. 99, 112 Oneill spelled as found for several passengers. 96 Charly Murdock: he was in his 40's. 100 Maria Gray: age was possibly 25 or 35. 101 Martha Watson: age was 20 or 30. 102 Jacob ?l???: surname possibly started with C or E. 104 Be??y Watson: either Bessy or Betty. 109 M??ta Alexander: first name seemed to be written Mahta; may have been Maria. 113 Jams Eage?: Jams as found. Surname could have been Eager or Eagen. 116 Ann McGlennon: age was 25 or perhaps 55. 117 Cath. McCl????: could not determine rest of name for certain, may be McClenon. 119 McClin?h: letter is possibly s or t. 121 Boy??: either Boyce or Boyd. 125 Wm. McCu??e: could not determine rest of name. 128 S???h Torrins: did not seem to be the same as with the Graham child. 133 S???t Graham: could not determine name but might have been something like Smith. 130 Jan? Graham: probably Jane. 135-136 McCarn???: last 3 letters looked like oon. 139-140 L?m???: about 3 or 4 more letters in name. 144-145 S??ps??: on cut of original manifest, probably Sampson or Simpson, possibly Sullivan. 148 Ja?? Carter: probably Jane. 150-151 Ke????y: could not read middle letters. 159 Agnes Mo??: probably More. 160 Cath. McClosey: McClosey as found; next names were McClosky. 172-176 L??ke: name may have been Laske or Locke. 181 Ja?? McNolan: probably Jane. 183 Isabella Len???: could not read rest of name. Correspondence 17 February 2002, passenger McIntyre I found my grandmother, 4x. She is listed sailing from Belfast to Philadelphia, 1850. Jane McIntyre age 22. The ship was the Bark Hannah Thornton. Jane married David A. Buchanan in Philadelphia, 1850. They had 4 children. Jane passed on 1895, in Philadelphia, Pa. I am still searching for her husband's ship. He left Ireland abt 1845-1850. Lived in Phila. all his life. Served in the Union Army, during the Civil War. Any information, please contact me JIM RYAN
