I, Alonzo Follansbee, do solemnly, sincerely and truly Swear that the following List or Manifest of Passengers, subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the Customs for the District of New York, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the Passengers received on board the Ship St Denis of New York whereof I am Master, from Havre.

While searching for her ancestors (the STAUFFER fsamily) she first found them in the 1855 Monroe Co. NY census. In 1860, in Kalamazoo, Michigan and in 1870, some of the girls are in Peoria Co. Illinois and some in Tazwell Co, Illinois. After 1860, she finds nothing on the parents or the boys. They had other children in the USA, one born in Monroe Co. NY (Caroline) and one born in Michigan (Lousia). When Caroline married in Illinois, she gave her mother's name as Catherine Danner. When Catherina (the daughter) died it was said that she was born in Bern, Switzerland and her mother's name was Tanner. Wanda wrote to Switzerland in 1982 but they were unable to help her unless she knew the canton from which her ancestors came. Anyone with suggestions please email Wanda. The Stauffers on this passenger list are her husband's Great-Great Grandparents. Correspondence 07/28/01 passenger KEMPF Wilhelm Kempf immigrated to Fort Wayne, IN directly from NY according to his obit. He married Louise Meier at some point and had a family of 10, not all living to adulthood. The faimily lived on High Street, just west of Wells where he ran a grocery store/saloon. They were members of St Paul Lutheran Church until the late 1890's when they moved to Trinity German Lutheran on St. Mary's Ave. Wilhelm is/was my great-great grandfather. Pat Correspondence 01/05/03 passengers MANGOLD The Mangold Family from Bavaria with their six children settled in Sedamsville which is close to Cincinnati, Ohio. They appeared on the 1860 Ohio census. We have a copy of Simon's obituary from 1871 which was published in the Cincinnati Volksfreund on 11 September. Doug Fricke in Indiana Correspondence 04/05/2003 passengers NAAS The family of Christoph Naas arrived aboard the "St. Dennis" in New York on July 22, 1850. Christoph Naas (father) and Elise Naas (mother) along with children Margaritte, Christoph, Anna, Catherine Elisa, Johann, Marie, Ann Margaret, and Eva. They settled in Allen County, Ohio and purchased farm land on 7 October 1854. Christoph Naas (father) died Oct. 17, 1858, and is buried in Old Evan. Lutheran Cem., Allen County, Ohio. Anna Elisabeth (mother) died Oct. 4, 1888, and is buried in Old Evan. Lutheran Cem., Allen County, Ohio. Johann Naas was my great grandfather, my grandmother was Elizabeth Catherine Naas (the third daughter of the marriage of Elizabeth Euler and Johann) who married Samuel Jones Tilden Mell. Marvin D. Nelson Correspondence 07/21/2004 passengers Scherzinger, Kaiser, Wangler The following passengers: Johann Scherzinger, Anton Kaiser and Mathias Wangler all settled in Warrick County in Southern Indiana. Wangler was the first husband of my great-great Grandmother. The men were from the area of Dorlinbach in the Black Forrest.
