Transcriber's Notes:

* An asterisk indicates an error on the part of the
original recorder, not the transcriber, or is used
to call your attention to additional information in
   the transcriber's notes.

? Indicates a letter or number which could not be determined
due to the condition of the manifest or handwriting of the original recorder.

^ A ^ followed by a letter indicates that the letter was superscripted.

* Names were transcribed as seen regardless of spelling.

* Passengers on the manifest where numbered starting at 1 when the space occupied on the
ship changes. Passengers where numbered consecutively by the transcribers for ease of
   referencing.

* For some unknown reason, most passengers are on this manifest twice. The first pages have
9 coloumns, the last pages have 25 coloumns. To the best of their ability,
the transcribers tried to link them.

* Affidavit of surgeon: ....of the passengers (in number)* named hereon.... (in number)
has been inserted in handwriting as transcribed.

* Contract ticket number: these numbers where issued by the steamship companies,
see Numbers, often in consecutive order.
