Transcriber's Notes:
This ship left Honolulu on April 26, 1893.
The third page of this list has a black stripe at the left side that obscures
the beginning of many of the names. The names at the bottom of this page
are so light they are totally illegible. Letters that cannot be interpreted
are replaced by ?.
No signature was entered in the Inspection Officer's statement.
Money and Read and Write were added as headers by hand in the column headed
Remarks.
The columns of the third page are different from those of the first two pages.
There is no space for No of Pieces of Baggage on the third page. There is
no notation for Read and Write on the first two pages. The first two pages
are clearly identified as Steerage. The top of the third page has no
notation regarding passenger accomodation.
The No of Pieces of Baggage entry signifies by brackets that the number
entered includes the whole family group in the case of families. The
number given has been assigned here to the first family member listed.
All other family members have * entered in this column.
On the first two pages the numbers in the Money column are followed by two
elevated zeros such as one would write for cents. All the numbers
indicated with * are written this way. There is no decimal. The second
number in the column, 5000, has three zeros elevated with a line drawn
beneath them so this could be $50 or $5.
The following passengers have lines drawn through the entries as though to
void them. It is not possible to discern the meaning of these lines:
7
36-46
48-52
55-56
64
71
83
10 Aggrella is clearly written with an "e" for all but the 5 year-old where
it is clearly written Aggrilla, with an "i."
41-42 Han?ama The missing letter looks like a "d" or "a."
50 NoOka is written with the second "O" capitalized. Nevertheless, it does
not appear to be two separate names.
63 Maceda The missing initial could be "I" "O" or "D."
66 Ga?raish The missing letter is "b" or "l."
There are two separate statements written across the bottom of the last page.
It is not possible to read either one.
