They were passengers 207-212. Mr. Homeyer's notes: First knowledge we have of the Homeyer name is traced to Wilhelm Homeyer (1825-1880). Wilhelm married Catherine Volkmar (1826-1908) in about 1850. Several references indicate the family lived in Germany's Hessen region. The marriage registration of one of their children indicates that she was born in the Village of Motzenrode, located east of Kassel. Wilhelm emigrated to Canada without his family in 1856 and stayed two years before returning to Germany. He subsequently returned to Canada with Catherine and four children on this ship. The family settled in the Village of Breslau in Waterloo County, Ontario, Canada, and is recorded in the Ontario census of 1871. Five more children were born in Canada. The family history is outlined on our web page: Homeyer http://home.ica.net/cisco/public_html/homeyer.html Correspondence added 4/2/2006, passenger 116, JOSEPHA SPETA I believe that passenger #116 Josepha Speta, is my great-grandmother. According to family history, Josepha's mother died when she was young and she was sent to a convent in Bohemia where she lived and studied to become a nurse. Later, she came to America by herself to be with relatives in St. Louis (leaving her father and five brothers in Bohemia). In St. Louis in 1864 she married Stephen Hyneck. Stephen had arrived from Bohemia in 1852. According to Stephen's obituary in 1905, they had five sons: Joseph, Frank, Michel, August and John (my grandfather). They also had five daughters, Anna, Josephine, Mary, Barbara, Theresa and Genevieve. I don't think Genevieve was counted since she died as an infant. I would be happy to hear from anyone else researching this family. Anne Oden
