Ship Amethyst


Liverpool, England to Boston, Massachusetts
3 August 1826

DISTRICT OF BOSTON AND CHARLESTOWN - PORT OF BOSTON
I, John Bussey, do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear, that the within REPORT and LIST, subscribed with my name and now delivered by me to the Collector of the district of BOSTON AND CHARLESTOWN, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, the names, age, sex and occupation of all the passengers, together with the name of the country to which they severally belong, and that of which they intend to become inhabitants, which were on board the Ship Amethyst whereof I am at present master, at the time of her sailing from the port of Liverpool or which have at any time since been taken on board the said vessel. And I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in said report and list expressed, are, to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. SO HELP ME GOD. REPORT and LIST of the passengers taken on board the Ship Amethyst whereof Bussey is master, burthen 359 tons and 36/95ths of a ton, bound from the port of Liverpool for Boston.
Columns represent: name, age, sex, occupation, country to which they belong. U. S. A. was given as the country to which they all intended to become inhabitants.

 5  Wm. D??in?: first letters do not extend above or below the line.  
    Last letter could be g or y.
 6  John McG??r: letters could be ir or u.
 7  Alexander Burns: age 20 probably.
 8  Rose Burns: listed as female, and as being from Ireland though 
    Alexander Burns just before her was from Scotland.
10-12  ?ra??er could be Frazier or Trainer.
19  Bridget Di??nd: letters do not extend above or below the line.
22  ? Heywood: name could be Ann or Ellen.
23  Mary Heywood: country to which she belonged was given as Ireland, 
    though the other Heywoods had England written there.
26  Thomas Ka??: letters do not extend above or below the line; 
    possibly rr, ss, or ne.
27  Patrick ?. Quinn: middle initial is L or S.
28  Mar? M. Guin: first name Marg. or Mary.  
    Surname McGuin or Guin, even though name before hers was written Quinn.
29  Wm. McDa?i??: first letter in question does not extend above or below the line.  
    Last 2 letters could be sh or th or tt or st.
33  Thomas Hamp?on: s or t in question.
36-37  B??ckell could be Brickell or Buckell
40  Joseph Do?ben: letter is possibly u.
