Ship Algonquin
I , Thomas B. Croppin do solemnly, sincerely and truly swear that the Report or Manifest subscribed with my name, and now delivered by me to the Collector of the District of Philadelphia, contains, to the best of my knowledge and belief, a just and true account of all the passengers which were on board the Ship Algonquin at the time of her sailing from the Port of Liverpool or which have been taken on board an any time since; that I am at present and have been during the voyage master of said vessel. And I do likewise swear that all matters whatsoever in the said Report or Manifest, are to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. SO HELP ME GOD. (signed) Ths B Cr?ppi? * In the column after Sex, there is a column titled "Occupation" and written in large script
vertically across the column, "Merchants, Mechanics and Labourers"
* In column after "To what country belonging", there is a column titled "Country of which it is
their intention to become inhabitants" is listed "United States".
* The final column, titled "Number and Names of Passengers who have died on the voyage" and
there are no entries in this column.
* The column titled " To what country belonging" is filled out with brackets and one notation
for the names within the brackets.
11 is shown as a female and could possibly be "Josephine" but there is no clear evidence of an
"ine" suffix.
Correspondence 4/20/01 passengers Sutcliffe
I found my family on this list. They are Joseph Sutcliffe and his
wife Sarah, along with their 5 children. They settled in Philadelphia.
Their son Samuel was a bricklayer and served in the Civil War. If you
