On the original list the phrase "& wife" was in the Comment Column. The list of boys, girl and servants was originally formatted without columns; I can no longer be certain the numbers are in the correct column. Please do not mistake the use of this key "|" to represent a numeral; it was used to create columns only.

Correspondence November 19, 2004 passenger #162 Higgins
William Higgins, listed as passenger # 162 and occupation Mariner was among those
arriving in Halifax in 1749.

I know that he was among the 650 of the original 2500 settlers who arrived who
left Halifax within the first year. I suspect that he may have gone to Prospect,
dispite the report to the British government that said that most of these
people went to New England, about 20 miles from Halifax and become a fisherman.
I know that there was a Michael Higgins in Prospect in the late 1700s, and he was
a direct ancestor. William Higgins may have been his father or grandfather.
David G. Higgins
Additional information on some of these passengers can be found in "George T. Bates, The Great Exodus of 1749", in Collections of The Nova Scotia Historical Society. A description of all of Bates comments from all 1749 ships can be found at: Bates
