Correspondence: May 26, 1999 passengers #15-20 Braiden/Bryden
Robert Bryden and his wife Jean Kirkpatrick came over on this ship with
4 of their 12 children: James b 1768, Scotland, Twins: David and William
b 1770 Scotland and Edward b 1774, Scotland. The family states they were
living in Dumfries, Nithsdale, Scotland and left Scotland to provide a
better living for the family. I have found that the twins were baptised
in Moffat Parish in 1770. They settled on Prince Edward Island in 1775
and then a year later they came to Nova Scotia. They almost starved that
first year on PEI due to the Revolutionary War and crop failure.
The spelling of their name has been found as Bryden, Brydon, Brydone
and Braiden.

Correspondence: October 22, 1999 passengers #37-44 Culton
I found my ancestor Anthony Culton and his wife and family.
1. Anthony CULTON b. probably bef 1760 at Dungrieshire (Dumfries-shire?),
Scotland - married Janet McCaughter
2. Robert CULTON married 1791 M or Helen Smith from Merigomish, NS
(7 chilren) (must have been born before 1778). The order of their
children is not known, but it seems reasonable that at least some of
them were born between 1792 and 1800.
3. Robert CULTON (Jr.) born 1800 at Riverton, Pictou County, NS; died
1893 - married Sophia Fraser born 1808 at New Glasgow, NS (8 or 9
children)
4. James William Carmichael CULTON born 5 Apr 1847 Riverton, NS;
died 1913 - married Mary Alida PARKER born 25 Mar 1857 at
Georgetown, PEI died 27 Jan 1937 at Riverton, NS. Both buried at
Riverside Cemetary, New Glasgow, NS (10 children)
5. Annie Isobel CUTLON born 11 Feb 1884 at Georgetown, PEI died
15 Jun 1928 in Westville, NS - married Leonard James ATWOOD born
Lisbon, Maine 23 Oct 1884 died 13 Sept 1930 (7 children)
Annie Isobel and Leonard James ATWOOD are my grandparents.
Family lore has it that Anthony had a brother John who also immigrated
to Canada but returned to Scotland sometime after 1783, but I have no proof.

Correspondence April 5, 2005 passengers #54-58 Marshall
Robert Marshall, wife Elizabeth sons: John, Andrew and James are ancestors.
They came for better employment but suffered as most did from voyage. They
almost starved to death on PEI where they spent the winter from lack of
provisions. Their food was stolen and some starved to death. If you are
from this family email me at Barb
